One of the most common surgeries in cosmetic dentistry is the dental implant. What is a dental implant? For one of many reasons, at some point, you may have lost a tooth. A bridge can solve that problem, but it requires altering the other nearby teeth, which may not be preferable. Instead, an implant can be installed. This is a small titanium artificial tooth root that we place in your jawbone. Then a false tooth, designed to match your other teeth and provide an even smile and bite, is attached to the titanium root.

Dental implants are an excellent modern alternative to the dental bridge. They close gaps in your teeth and provide a functional false tooth that is anchored to your jaw. It will feel a little different from a normal tooth, but works much better than no tooth at all. Dental implants can also be used to anchor certain types of braces or for dentures, in some patients.
