Gum Treatment at Vista Dental Las Vegas
Most adults suffer from some form of periodontal disease. This can range from the most minor swelling of the gums to an enhanced inflammation and damage to the gums and even the jaw bone. This disease is caused by the everyday bacteria we all have in our mouths, and is kept in check by gum treatment including regular brushing and flossing. Smoking, hormonal changes, diabetes and certain medications can all make this disease worse.
If you have persistent bad breath, swollen and bleeding gums, sensitive teeth, find chewing painful, find your teeth loose or find them falling out, contact us! You may have an advanced case of gum disease, and the sooner you get gum treatment, the more we can help.
We have experienced all levels of periodontal disease and we know how to treat them. At the most basic, gum disease is an infection, and we take several steps to control it. You may undergo a root planing or scaling, which is a procedure designed to scrape tartar off the surfaces of your teeth where it has built up. We may also prescribe a program of antibiotics in moderate to advanced cases.
In the most advanced cases, surgery may be necessary. In these cases, we do everything in our power to make you at ease and explain to you everything that is happening. These surgeries can be extensive, but to leave gum disease untreated for too long can be very dangerous. If you think you are experiencing symptoms of early gum disease, see us for a consultation.
